2016 hasn’t been a good year for celebrity deaths, with Prince, Bowie, Terry Wogan and Ronnie Corbett to name but a few, all sadly passing away. It’s is often thought that performers, in particular, make more money once dead, then they do alive and the fact they are no longer with us can also see the value of their belongings skyrocket.
It would certainly seem this is the case for the feature of this week’s blog.
Almost 20 years have passed since rap icon Tupac Shakur was shot and killed during the prime of his career.
As is often the case in the rap game, the bigger your vehicle, the more successful you are. So no surprise that one of the last motors he ever bought, was a 1996 AM General Hummer. It doesn’t get much bigger than a vehicle originally intended to serve the armed forces in a war zone and this one comes equipped with a 6.5 litre V8 turbo diesel engine.
The four-door pick-up has done just 10,101 miles and in true outlandish rapper style, has a few additional extras ranging from driving lights, pimped out sound system and PA, as well as diamond plated bumpers allegedly added by Pac himself.
The Hummer isn’t quite fresh from Shakur’s private estate and has had a number of owners since, including Tupac’s “god brother’s” mother.
The vehicle is currently residing in Canada but will be sold at auction by RR Auctions. Whilst you can pick up a similar Hummer from anywhere between $20,000 – $60,000, the Tupac Shakur special is expected to sell for more than $100,000, or just short of £70,000 to you and me.
