When you think pick-up trucks you think of the Stars and Stripes, the Ford F150, the Dodge Ram Truck and due to their fierce competition the Toyota pick-up truck.
You would be forgiven for never ever thinking Mercedes-Benz and why would you?? Even their foray into 4x4s has been hit and miss with the G-Wagon coming through as the only real success story.
But that’s all about to change. Merc has just unveiled their latest concept called the X-Class and on the face of it at least, it looks pretty sweet.
It’s rumored to share the same platform as the Navara which is a solid foundation to build on and will, rather sensibly, be diesel powered.
The X-Class will be a midsize truck leaning more towards the luxury side of the market rather than the brute force of the American market, although it still holds its own on the brute factor. It will come in two varieties – the powerful adventurer and the stylish explorer. Both sound like heartthrob straplines from the latest Hugh Grant
It will come in two varieties.
The Powerful adventurer
The Stylish Explorer
Both sound like heartthrob straplines from the latest Hugh Grant rom-con but we’ll let that slide for the time being.
Rather than go up against the might of Dodge and Ford state side, Mercedes are targeting Latin America, Australia, South Africa and Europe and we for one are excited to see more!
