In the motoring world you’ll struggle to find a manufacturer as established and admired as BMW. Down the years the brand and cars themselves have continued to evolve with the world, yet retain its desirability as the motor to have thanks to its power and looks. Whether they’re used for racing, the day to day school run, a wealthy business man’s play toy or to Max Power them to the nuts, BMW offers something for everyone.
If like us at Walton Bridge Garage you like your BMers, then you probably would have appreciated Bimmerfest. We’re not sure on the name but that’s the Americans for you, but it’s essentially a mad BM-fest over at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana California. It took place last weekend for the 17th annual event and due to the popularity of the event they extended it by an extra day.
The event found its new home at the race track just outside of LA due to its rapid expansion over the last few years and this time round attracted some 4,000 BMW drivers and an additional 10,000 admirers.
We know what you’re thinking… BMW drivers are complete ******* on the road. But at least this way they were all at Bimmerfest and not trying to rear end you down a 30mph stretch of road, full beams blaring.
Those in attendance had the chance to push their motor to the max on the oval and road tracks via a hot lap set-up. There was also an autocross course, the Battle of the Bimmer car show and an outstanding display of the brands long history through the years.
There was also a top notch Fan Zone showcasing some of the most iconic race cars with a V8 powered 2001 M3 GTR and Mclaren F1 GTR with a custom BMW developed V12 stealing the show.
Looks like a top weekend and hopefully it might transcend ‘the pond’ so us UK based BMW fans can have a Bimmerfest of our own!
