Here at Walton Bridge Garage we take pride in ensuring our customers cars are road legal and, regularly give advice on sticking to the laws, particularly the traffic laws. However if there’s one law that is constantly flaunted and has been for years, it’s the drink drive limit.
Luckily the dangers of drink driving are communicated much more effectively in this day and age, but the number of motorists committing drink drive offences continues to rise. Not only does it cost you your license, but it can also cost you your life, or worse, the life of someone else.
So the stars of this blog post deserve at least some credit for making the right decision and choosing not to drive after having a drink. Unfortunately that’s the only credit they will get in this particular scenario.
On the 31st of January a deputy from the Polk County Sheriffs in Wisconsin was out on his usual patrol. During this time he received a call from dispatch to alert him to a pick-up truck that had been spotted swerving all over the road.
Having located the pick-up parked at the side of the road, the deputy approached the vehicle and found two adults clearly inebriated. However they weren’t the ones in charge of the vehicle and had actually made the sensible decision not to drive. Unfortunately for them, they had made the moronic decision to hand the keys to their nine year old daughter, only in America.
Of course both were immediately arrested and to make matters worse, they also had an 11 month old baby on board! Despite this absolutely ridiculous method of avoiding drink driving, by putting their children’s lives at risk over the cost of a taxi, the parents both had the audacity to plead not guilty.
The trial is still on going and a conclusion hasn’t been reached yet, but it’s likely both will be charged for recklessly endangering safety and neglecting a child – and we should hope so too.
