An Aston Martin Red Bull love child? The mind boggles!

Lewis Hamilton took the plaudits at the weekend, winning the British Grand Prix at Silverstone for a third time having done so in 2008 and 2014. Both times he has won the race previously, he has gone on to win the Driver’s Championship.

Promising stuff for fans of British motor sport.

Another British favourite, Aston Martin, has been flirting with British F1 fans with reports that they were in cahoots with Red Bull with regard to a potential partnership, which would also include Mercedes. However nothing has yet come of this potential funky three way but that doesn’t mean Aston and Red Bull have parted company.

It is believed that one of Red Bull’s most prized engineers, Adrian Newey, is working with Aston Martin on an all-out track focussed supercar. The creation is being designed with the intention of taking on the likes of the McLaren P1 GTR, although we were under the impression this is what Aston had made the Vulcan for. Perhaps this will be the Vulcan’s secret twin, one that was locked away at birth for its bad behaviour or hideous temperament, whatever the story, it makes an interesting prospect.

It wouldn’t be the first time a name as prestigious as Aston Martin has teamed up with an F1 team to create something scintillating, although at Walton Bridge Garage we do question this particular mix.

Aston Martin has long been a luxurious brand, evoking feelings of class, sophistication, Sean Connery as 007, you know, classic, classy and British. Red Bull on the other hand is a brand synonymous with extreme sports, bold, lively colours and very high levels of caffeine. Their rise to the top of pretty much every market they decide to enter has been impressive and no doubt a collaboration with Aston Martin will maintain this.

But the mind can only boggle at what they might produce. The only outcome we can imagine is something like Ozzy Osbourne, undoubtedly British but also completely off his rocker from years of…umm rock music. Something that embodies the British spirt at heart, but has been tainted by years on the road in foreign lands.

The most exciting thought, is Newey’s intention to produce something road legal. We’ll keep watch and let you know as soon as they unveil Ozzy to the world.
