Our Top 3 Motoring Stunts, In Homage To Jaguar

The 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show certainly filled the boots of largest motor show in the world last week, bringing us an array of awesome automobiles and some pretty crazy concepts.

But nothing beats a record breaker, particularly when it’s in the realm of stunt driving, and they even delivered that. Jaguar unveiled their latest sports car on Monday and around 30 seconds later also entered in into the Guinness World Record Books. How? By driving the new F-PACE round a 360 degree loop the loop, stretching over 19 metres tall.

At Walton Bridge Garage, we like watching stunts as much as we love providing a top class service, at an affordable cost. So in homage to this impressive endeavour, here’s our top 3 favourite stunts involving cars.

Ok this first one isn’t a stunt as such, more a 12 minute wall to wall stunt-fest. For today’s generation of stunt driving adrenaline junkies, there is only one name that stands out, Ken Block.

The man is pretty much an additional part of the car and his imaginative driving, particularly through the Gymkhana series, has rejuvenated the popularity of stunt driving amongst child and man alike.

As you would expect from the seventh instalment of any franchise, there is far more glitz and glamour about the production, stunt course and of course, the car. This time Ken is tearing the back end out of a specially designed 1965 Ford Mustang, the only one in the world to have 4 wheel performance. It is a thing of beauty and worth a watch alone just to hear the thing start up. Ken then does what all of us have done on GTA V a number of times, and rips it around the streets of LA at a blistering pace.

Next up is this absolute nail biter, which believe it or not, is 100% genuine. Lotus wanted to show off their latest F1 car as well as advertise their EMC technology and so came up with this.

They also broke a world record by having this truck jump over 83 feet at speed. But more impressive is at the same time, the Lotus F1 car passes underneath the truck, risking being crushed and certain death. Scary stuff.

Last but not least, a stunt that covers a lot more ground that 83 feet, 296 to be exact. If Ken Block is the new generation of car stunt driver, Travis Pastrana is the undeniable king of stunts on anything from a motocross bike, to a rally car, to a kids pedal toy.

We’ve chosen a bread and butter distance jump as the last of our favourite stunts, as the legend of freestyle motocross jumps his rally car a huge 296 feet, live on TV, in Long Beach California.

So there we are. If you do find yourself involved in any stunt related prangs, come down and see us at Walton Bridge Garage. We offer everything from M.O.Ts to body reworks and we’ll get you back hitting the ramps, without breaking the bank in the process. Just give us a call on 01932 227839 and book your car in with one of the team.
